U.S. automotive giant, General Motors (GM) has set the price of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible and Coupe 1LE.
It was leaked by Chief Technician Al Oppenheiser Chevrolet Camaro at an event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States.
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible is offered with the price USD60.445, while Chevrolet Camaro Coupe 1LE USD37.035 pegged.
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible is a strong candidate competitor Ford Shelby GT500. Camaro ZL1 reinforced supercharged 6.2 liter V8 engine capable of producing power 580 hp with peak torque of 556 lb-ft.
While the Shelby GT500 convertible has power to 650 power Kudan with maximum torque of 600 lb-ft.
Meanwhile, Chevrolet Camaro Coupe 1LE prepared to deal with the muscle car such as the Ford Mustang Boss 302. Just for information, the Boss 302 is offered at a price of 407 million USD49.990 or equivalent.
Surpassing the current 430-hp Corvette Convertible and a outgunning the legendary 1970 450-hp Chevelle SS 454 Convertible, the Camaro ZL1 Convertible will be the most powerful convertible for Chevrolet ever when it appears in 2013. Like the coupe, the Camaro ZL1 convertible features a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine producing 580 hp. Chevrolet even takes a shot at the competition in its press release by stating the horsepower figures of some its rival’s convertible models, specifically calling out the 470-hp Aston Martin DB9 Volante, 518-hp Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG, 530-hp Porsche 911 Turbo S Convertible, and 550-hp Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible. Although no exact performance figures were provided, we anticipate the Camaro ZL1 Convertible to be faster than everything but the 911.
Chevrolet says the ZL1 will feature the same balance of acceleration, handling and ride quality found in the ZL1 Coupe. If it is anything like the Camaro Convertible SS we tested, we have full faith that the performance of the convertible will not suffer. This can be partly contributed to the reinforcements utilized by Chevrolet engineers to keep the Convertible’s rigidity close to that of the coupe’s. For the 2013 ZL1 Convertible, additional reinforcements will also be employed.
The ZL1 Convertible will use the third-generation Magnetic Ride system, which premiered in first-generation form on the 2003 50th Anniversary Edition Corvette and can be currently found on the ZR1. It can monitor and adjust damping levels up to 1,000 times per second for changing road and driving conditions. The ZL1 will also come standard with Chevrolet’s Performance Traction Management system to enhance both drag-strip-like launches and cornering.
